Today was such a great day (: I went to The Enormous Activities Fair with Laura to check out the clubs and get free stuff. There was soo much free food, i was stuffed. Had 3 cups of coffee, which granted me a similar experience as that dinner yesterday (; Irresistible! I got a lot of stuff. Went back to the dorm &said hi to the guys across our room - Ryan, Jason, and Christos. Christos is actually from Greece, speaks 4 languages, a concert violinist, pro tennis player, with many other attributes. He's cute too, in a bashful-yet-confident way (; I found out later he has a gf already back in Greece, &they're trying to work it out :O
Went to a Freshmen Welcome Orientation with our floormates. Scott Young was the inspiration speaker. He was pretty good. He talked about how we usually do better at what we imagine ourselves doing with ease, than what we are told to master. There is a conscious voice in our heads that constantly tells us we're imperfect - we're ugly, we're fat, we're less bright than our fellow classmates, while at the same time, the same voice pressures us to believe that we're 'normal.' Have faith in your ability. We have e.t. it takes to be incredibly successful. The biggest challenge we're going to have is not external, but internal - our own insecurity, our own self-doubt, our lack of confidence. The reasons students don't make it in college is bc they intellectually sabotage themselves.
I made a friend (: Amana Li. She's a music major, playing the viola. She's chinese and is pretty conservative / cool (: I went w/ her to the welcoming BBQ. After that we all went to a Dykstra housing meeting, which split into a floor meeting... After we all head back, eb just walled up along the halls and learn each other's names. Introductions after introductions. It was pretty social, and it felt pretty good (: Kaitlin, Meghan, &I retreated back to her dorm, where they skyped w/ their friends. This guy Bryan came in and started talking about his distant relationship, which got Kaitlin started on hers, since her bf recently broke up with her bc he feels she's leavin' him for LA. Yahhh too complicated :O Buttt he is an athletic engineering major who's good at math :O Anyway, we're just talking &sharing; i told her bout my past relationship, she told me bout hers. We talked bout food, family, leaving home, etc. It was very heart-warming <3
